Vivienne Court Trading (VivCourt) is a new, rapidly growing financial trading firm headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Our teams trade in markets across the globe, employing proprietary trading strategies to profit in products which include Equities and Derivatives, Indices and ETFs, and Energy and Physical Commodities.
Many companies will claim to have a positive work environment, a social conscience and a focus on employee outcomes. At VivCourt these are the drivers of our business model. Uniquely in the financial markets, the ownership of Vivcourt resides solely with a charitable Foundation. This structure promotes a focus on doing good work and allows our management to focus solely on making money and providing the best working and pay conditions for our employees.
An opportunity now exists for a junior analyst to join our Energy trading team.
VivCourt Energy trades in Australia and Europe, focussing on the wholesale Electricity markets and associated fuels – Gas, Coal, Carbon and Biofuels. We are a proprietary trading team who develop trading strategies which reflect the fundamental supply and demand drivers of the energy markets. The team is located in VivCourt’s Brisbane office where the workplace is simple, casual, and focussed on performance rather than form.
The junior analyst will help to build supply/demand and price models and be expected to contribute to trading strategy. Good communication and people skills are important.
This is a data-driven role, involving relatively low frequency data (hourly, daily) of high granularity (detailed, hierarchical characteristics of power stations, gas fields etc).
Candidates will need to have programming skills with a focus on data management and numerical processing. Models will typically be prototyped in Excel and then operationalised via a combination of SQL, VBA, Python or R.
A working knowledge of statistics and economics will be of benefit in this role, and in general the candidate needs to demonstrate an analytical persuasion.
The role will suit a recent graduate/post graduate, though some working experience will be viewed favourably. You will receive mentoring and tutoring by the team and can expect good access to professional learning facilities.
