Our Business Intelligence team is looking for an algorithm expert to develop our real-time anomaly detection algorithm. You will work towards having a state-of-the-art anomaly detection tool that detects issues before anyone else is aware of them, then alerts the relevant parties. The goal of the anomaly detection tool is to immediately uncover short-term as well as long-term disruptions to our KPI trends (e.g. click-stream incidents, major user behavior changes, advertiser-specific metric changes, etc.) in order to ensure that trivago operates smoothly in the market. You will integrate all important metrics for monitoring the dynamics of the market and predict market trend development. You must be capable of astutely analysing data in order to pinpoint the main causes of anomalies. We want someone who is willing to experiment with new methods in order to constantly improve the algorithm’s accuracy and who has the eye for detail required to avoid mistakes when conducting data tests and reviewing code. If you have the desire and drive to see your ideas go from conception to execution in order to push our algorithm forward, we’d like to hear from you.

The ideal candidate:

  • Holds a M.Sc. or Diplom degree in one of the natural sciences (Mathematics, Physics, etc.) or Computer Science.
  • Has 1-2 years’ experience working in an environment where they were focused on machine learning and data analysis.
  • Is proficient in a programming/coding language. Proficiency in SQL, R, Python or a good working knowledge of Hadoop would be particularly beneficial.
  • Speaks English fluently.
  • Is an independent worker capable of recognizing what will add the highest value to a project.
  • Has the analytical mind and eye for detail required to find patterns in data and spot any potential errors.
  • Can start as soon as possible.
