Knowledge Management Specialist

Job Description

Shopify's Knowledge Management team needs another KM specialist to help us meet our evolving KM objectives.
Easy access and contribution to internal knowledge is essential across Shopify. By having a strong culture of sharing what we know, we can build better context for us all to use. Shopify’s internal wiki is where we turn tribal knowledge into institutional memory. It allows us to create context from historical data so that we stay aligned, avoid duplication, and get things done.
We need KM experts to help people and teams create and organize context so that Shopify can be more effective at scale.

You’ll need to have:

    • An appreciation of the value of knowledge management to the organization
    • A strong sense of user advocacy and of KM as a service
    • Great language skills and an ability to adapt your writing for different target audiences
    • Highly-developed organizational skills.
    • High standards, an obsessive eye for detail, and a strong sense of ownership
    • Initiative, a willingness to reach out to strangers, and a love for solving mysteries
    • A passion and curiosity to constantly learn new things, and to share what you know. Shopify changes fast, and we need people who work here to be able to change and learn fast, too
    • Resilience, grit, and perseverance. Shopify moves quickly and knowledge evolves fast!
    • Killer communication skills - building relationships with teammates, stakeholders, and subject matter experts is a vital component of success in this role

You’ll be working on:

    • Empowering teams across Shopify to create, own, and maintain content, increasing the body of trustworthy institutional knowledge.
    • Organizing content around disciplines, product lines, service lines, teams, and projects
    • Collaborating with teams across all of Shopify to ensure consistency and reliability of content
    • Teaching people and teams how to use our KM tools most effectively
    • Collecting usage data and reporting on it to a variety of audiences
    • Learning new skills and sharing your own
If you want to join us in our mission to make Shopify’s know-how and experience available wherever it’s needed, we want to hear from you.
