Senior Data Visualization Engineer - Growth & Membership

Job Description

Netflix is adding millions of members around the globe every year!  Our amazing original content and marketing efforts draw many people to us, but our product improvements, partnerships with device manufacturers and expansion of payment methodologies make it easier for people to become members and enjoy our service.

The Growth Data Products team partners with product managers and business leaders to scale access to data and insights.  We do this by building data products that enable a shared and consistent perspective of business performance across product, messaging, payments, and partnerships.

In this role you will:

    • Design and build data products to optimize measurement of our membership base and partner and payment environments.
    • Enable perspectives on new growth initiatives and payment schemes coming online in new territories as we continue our global expansion.
    • Work directly with product managers and business users at all levels and across all of our offices (US, Europe, Asia, India).
    • Take ownership of impactful projects and work autonomously by embracing our culture of Freedom and Responsibility.

What we look for:

    • A web developer who can design and deploy rich, performant web apps from the ground up.
    • Deep experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript.
    • Experience with popular front-end frameworks and workflows.
    • Some React and Redux experience is ideal.
    • Ability to bootstrap a webserver from scratch, doing the necessary plumbing to get data, make API calls, etc., and debugging server-side issues (although this will not be the focus of this role).
    • Experience cleaning and processing data with at least one popular language (e.g. Python, R, Node)
    • Extensive experience using SQL to transform data tables into meaningful data sources.
    • Experience building repeatable pipelines to transform raw data into other formats for visualization or analysis.
    • Familiarity with big data tools like Hive and Spark, and accessing data in other systems like Druid, ElasticSearch, or MongoDB is preferred.
    • Experience making a variety of static and interactive visualizations for a variety of audiences
    • Experience with D3 or another popular web visualization framework
    • Awareness of design concepts related to chart forms, typography, and the use of color, and are able to design clear, legible charts.
    • Experience designing, building, and iterating on interfaces, with a strong sense of the entire user experience, not just the individual pieces.
