Netflix is revolutionizing the way entertainment is consumed by people all over the world. While we are making great strides in becoming the biggest and most data-driven studio the world has ever seen, we are also continuously innovating our ways to promote our original content via our product, marketing, and social/PR campaigns. Our Science & Algorithms team is seeking ways to unlock the power of unstructured social media data along with our internal data to empower and optimize the promotion of original content. As a senior data scientist, you will answer, through machine learning, experimental design, and statistical analysis, questions such as:
• Can we use big data to unlock the mystery of word-of-mouth and influencer impact? How could we quantify such impact and optimize our existing efforts around it?
• What is the best way to build excitement for our titles before they launch on the service? What kinds of social signals could be more informative of title popularity?
• How could we identify online communities? How fluid are they? How could we leverage our understanding to better inform them of our upcoming content?
• How could we optimize our promotional efforts across product, paid media and PR/social campaigns?
