The Data Engineering & Analytics org supports Netflix’s data-driven culture across marketing, streaming, product, finance, and content functions.
 
The Global Metadata team within Content Data Engineering & Analytics is based in the entertainment capital of the world and is focused on building rich, connected data about content. This connected data is used across multiple functions, from getting content onto the service to feature development for statistical models. The scope of this team’s work is rapidly growing and there are many opportunities for impacting Netflix’s growing global audience and slate of Originals. We need an innovative leader to drive the team’s evolution in a quickly evolving business.

What will you do?

    • Provide technical vision and strategy for building a content knowledge base that is integrated throughout human and machine-driven decisions
    • Build a dream team of engineers to execute on your vision
    • Nurture this dream team through thoughtful observation and courageous, honest feedback
    • Build software and social glue between a diverse set of engineering, scientist, content, and product teams to support decisions affecting billions of dollars in investment in subscriber joy

What you ideally know? (not a rigid litmus test)

    • How to build data products
    • Analytic domains related to knowledge bases (information retrieval, entity resolution, natural language processing)
    • How to work with analytics practitioners and contexts
    • A collection of Big Data tech (S3, Hive, Spark, Elasticsearch, graph databases, ...)
    • Python-based application development. Experience with its data science libraries is a plus
    • Team-based software development tools and best practices
